Maine FarmLink is a farm transfer program that connects farmers seeking farmland with retiring Maine farmers and other farmland owners who wish to see their agricultural lands remain active. Buy/Protect/Sell is one of the tools Maine Farmland Trust is using to conserve farmland when it is most vulnerable to development, or otherwise lost from its traditional agriculture role. MFT purchases the farm and then re-sells it to an interested farmer at “farmland value” (not “development value”) with an agriculture conservation easement in place. This not only protects the land for the future, but fosters agriculture as a viable sector in Maine’s economy today. Check out our current list of farms for sale:
